Five step survival guide to living in Panama City.  No matter where your from, living in Panama City can be a life changing experience. Panama is very similar to North America and very easy to navigate around and enjoy all the it has to offer.

Exploring: I always recommend finding a decent taxi that can be reliable when moving around the city. Most taxi's have cell numbers and can arrange to pick you up anywhere. Buying a car might just change your life in Panama.

Communicating: Picking up a cell phone is another great idea when living in or even visiting the city.  Most cell phones offer pay as you go starting at $20 for the phone and $3 for a calling card.  This will make things very easy on you. Also learning spanish can be very easy and affordable, I suggest learning.

Business: The first and most important thing when arriving here is to find a good attorney quick. Panama has many english speaking attorneys that can assist you with a variety of issue you may face. They include setting up a corporation, bank account, purchasing property or investing, and residency. Dealing with these matters is a must.

Shopping: Panama Has some of the biggest malls in Latin America and finding the bargains is even easier. Albrook Mall or Los Pueblos has some of the best deals and largest selection.  Riva Smith supermarket is just like home with most of the American brands and a better meats.

Fun: When the sun goes down the Panama night life can be a crash course for going broke but happy.  Make sure to have your passport with you because the police are always fishing for money. Think it's big enough? Notice that 207' beam means it cannot fit through the Panama or Suez Canals . It is strictly transpacific. Check out the cruise speed: 31 knots means the goods arrive 4 days before the typical container ship (18-20 knots) on a China-to-California run. So this behemoth is hugely competitive when carrying perishable goods.
